The Alpha and Omega Window
I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.
~ Revelation 1:8
The twenty foot Alpha and Omega glass window was erected and dedicated in 1976 as part of the original St. Stephen sanctuary. The back faced 434, the front stood behind the altar.
Backlit by the sun, the 5 panels told the liturgical “story” featuring the Alpha and Omega symbols: a palm, three rocks indicative of the stoning of St. Stephen, a chalice and bread, a fish and a dove among others.
When the original sanctuary was demolished in 2010, the window panels were saved, reconstructed and re-commissioned in October 2017 as a testament to our past, present and future. The window has been re-configured to fit the height of our current sanctuary.
The message of this window that has been in both of St. Stephen’s church sanctuaries is the perfect note upon which to conclude this anniversary celebration. It is and always has been about Jesus, the Alpha and the Omega, who is to come.
Gloria to God Alone!
